The project aims at optimising the monitoring capacity and develop the monitoring infrastructure necessary to enable a reliable assessment of the quantitative and qualitative status of all water resources in the Maltese islands. This new monitoring framework will be key for assessing the quantitative and qualitative status of natural water resources. The information acquired from this monitoring network will also facilitate the reliable determination of the impacts on water status of the water management measures which are currently being implemented in the Maltese islands (even through the Operational Programme I) and provide the information necessary to enable the optimised implementation of future water management measures.
The measures under the information component will focus on Malta’s hydrological and hydrogeological environment and enable the generation of the information necessary to:
